A Neighbor Who's Grown with Niwot
For more than twelve years, Niwot has been home for me, my wife Desiree, and our two kids. Like many families here, we’ve built our life around the places and moments that make Niwot feel special…. grabbing groceries at Niwot Market, catching up with familiar faces over coffee at Old Oak Coffee Shop or Winot Coffee, and spending plenty of afternoons at the children’s park while the kids run around.
We show up for the community traditions that bring Niwot together: the Fourth of July Parade, Rock & Rails, Holiday Magic, and other events where you can count on seeing people you recognize, even if you don’t know everyone by name. That’s the kind of connection that makes Niwot feel like home, not just neighbors on a street, but a community you’re part of.
Niwot also carries a deeper story. The town’s name honors Chief Niwot, a Southern Arapaho leader whose words about this land, sometimes called the “Curse of the Beautiful Country”, remind us that this place has long meant something special to people who lived here long before us. My family feels the responsibility of honoring that history while helping shape a future that respects those roots and supports the people who live here today.
Being part of Niwot has taught me what matters: showing up where I can, contributing in practical ways, and helping keep this town welcoming and strong for the next generation. That’s what Niwot has given my family, and it’s why I’m committed to giving back.

Service Rooted in Showing Up for Niwot
My connection to Niwot has grown through years of showing up, not just at events, but in the steady work that keeps this town moving forward. For eight years I’ve served on the Niwot Local Improvement District Advisory Committee, including five years as Chair. That role gave me a front row seat to how local decisions are made, how small businesses are supported, and how community priorities shape the projects we invest in.
I’ve worked alongside business owners, volunteers, and residents who care deeply about keeping Niwot vibrant and welcoming. Whether it’s guiding improvements, supporting local events, or listening to what people want for the future, my volunteer work has always been about strengthening the community we share.
I’ve also taken part in regional civic programs like the Consortium of Cities and Boulder County Leadership Fellows, which helped me see how small towns fit into the larger regional picture and why it’s important for communities like ours to have a clear voice.
Professional Experience Focused on Community and Collaboration
I work for the Boulder Chamber, a nonprofit focused on supporting local businesses, strengthening the regional economy, and building partnerships across communities. My work there has taught me how policy, planning, and collaboration come together, and why it matters that towns like Niwot can make decisions that reflect local values.
Working in the nonprofit sector means I spend my days focused on community needs, long‑term planning, and helping people succeed. That experience has reinforced my belief that strong communities are built through steady, thoughtful work and clear communication.
